The Health Insurance Marketplace is a federally operated insurance marketplace (or exchange) where individuals and small businesses shop for and compare health coverage. Any individual or family may buy coverage in this Marketplace. For those who do not want to purchase in the Marketplace, coverage will continue to be sold outside of the Marketplace during open enrollment. Plans sold outside of the Marketplace may be purchased through a licensed agent or directly from a health carrier. However, the advanced premium tax credit (“APTC”) and cost-sharing reduction (“CSR”) benefit are only available to those who qualify and purchase a health plan in the Marketplace. Because purchasing health insurance is one of the most important decisions you can make, determining which plan is best requires a sound, independent assessment from a qualified health insurance professional. To decide which plan is best, it is important to consider whether you qualify for lower premiums, lower out-of-pocket costs, or better coverage. Our office is here to help you through this complicated process, and we’re happy to make health insurance easy to understand.
When people think of life insurance they typically think of term insurance which is where you pay a fixed premium on a monthly basis for a guarantee* from an insurance company to pay a fixed amount of money to one’s beneficiaries in the event of death. Everyone should have life insurance.
The life insurance industry has evolved into cutting-edge, versatile products that provide a death benefit, but also accumulate cash value. Popular examples include whole life insurance, universal life insurance, & variable life insurance. Each type of life insurance has its own unique characteristics and traits, but the primary goal for each is to provide your loved ones with financial security if you unexpectedly or prematurely died. You can cover your family while also accumulating cash value, which you can tap into as tax-free income while you’re alive. More and more investors are utilizing cash value life insurance because of tax efficiency and versatility.
*Guarantees are based solely on the financial strength and claim-paying ability of the issuing company and compliance with product requirements.
Disability is defined as an illness or an injury (either physical or mental) that prevents you from performing regular and customary work. Disability also includes elective surgery, pregnancy, childbirth, or other related medical conditions. Although work-related disabilities are covered by workers’ compensation laws, Disability Insurance (“DI”) benefits may also be paid for work-related illness or injuries, and under certain circumstances prescribed by law. Because your most valuable asset is your ability to make a living and generate income, its important to ensure your ability to receive income if you became disabled.
Long Term Care
Long Term Care (“LTC”) is the assistance needed when one either requires help performing an activity of daily living (bathing, dressing, eating) or has a severe cognitive impairment (such as Alzheimer’s disease). Because Medicare does not pay for long-term care services (like assisted living) and only pays the first 100 days of skilled care (physical therapy, nursing), than it may be important to consider purchasing a Long Term Care insurance policy. With the creation of new hybrid insurance products, Long Term Care (which was once viewed as expensive) may now be more practical than historically thought. Domingo & Associates can guide you through this complicated decision-making process and help determine what’s best for you.
